
Drawing I/II (FADP1101/FADP1102)
Description
This course is designed for students already familiar with basic drawing skills who are prepared to progress their abilities. This class will encourage material experimentation ad conceptual thinking. In Drawing I at the Advanced level students will actively participate in critiques and discussions touching on all aspects of a drawing practice. Students will be expected to gain a competency with observational drawing, perspective drawing, figure drawing, and conceptual drawing approaches.

In Drawing II at the Advanced level students will be introduced to approaches of drawing that organize thought and feeling through image making. Students investigate a broad range of materials and traditions. Designed to accommodate growing skill levels, students can explore various creative strategies through a skill-based curriculum as well as individual projects.

Painting I/II (FADP1103/FADP1104)
Description
In Painting I at the advanced level students will experience the fundamentals of a studio painting practice, art critiques, and begin to explore art historical movements in painting. From stretching a canvas to preparing paint mediums, this course is designed to familiarize students with the material and technical approaches to painting. We will discuss the materials and formal techniques of making a painting. Each painting project will introduce you to a new way of making a painting.

Painting II at the advanced level is a project based painting intensive course expanding on momentum from student projects in Painting I. Students will be given specific prompts which will lead to generating individualized works. Prompts encourage visual and personal research in preparation for making. The core focuses of this class are technical exploration, perception, development of ideas, intuition, invention, representation and visual communication.

Portfolio Development (FADP1105/FADP1106)
Description
Portfolio Development I for the advanced level is a course on the principles of art and design across all media. Students will explore the intersection of ideas within conceptual art making, experimentation and mixed media practices. Portfolio Development aims to develop the student’s conceptual creative process, technical skills and risk taking ability. Students will work with a variety of materials, incorporating these forms onto both 2D and 3-D surfaces. Students will develop projects based on their research relying on sketchbooks, readings, field trips, and seminar topics.

Portfolio Development II is a continuation of Portfolio Development I and is designed for those students who are interested in continuing to create across different media. Emphasis will be placed on creating individualized projects that reflect personal voice and interests. The primary research of student projects will be from drawing and notation created with unique prompts.

Sculpture I/II (FASP1101/FASP1102)
Description
In Sculpture at the advanced level students will grasp fundamental 3D concepts, material techniques and foundational skills for three-dimensional design, drawing, sculpture and architecture. It will bridge two dimensional planning with three-dimensional design concepts and lead to actual sculptural objects. Students will be instructed in the use of basic tools and a range of materials.

Sculpture II at the advanced level is a continuation of Sculpture I for students interested in exploring further 3D concepts, complex material techniques and intermediate skills for three-dimensional design, drawing, sculpture and architecture.

Open Studio (FAOP1101)

Description
Open Studio is a foundation-level art class designed to introduce students to the basics of drawing, painting, and sculpting. This class is tailored for beginners with no prior art background, providing a supportive environment for exploration and learning. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, students will develop fundamental skills in various art mediums, laying the groundwork for further artistic exploration and expression.

Graphic Design I (DMVC1101)
Description
This course is an intensive exploration of the fundamental principles of graphic design. The class focuses on developing the ability to combine design elements such as type, shape and image, to transmit meaning and values. We will investigate the use of communicative tools such as composition, color, hierarchy, scale, rhythm, and visual metaphor. In the class we will use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate along with other traditional methods of drawing and organizing.

Fashion Design (FSFD1101)
Description
Fashion Design at the advanced level is a course that encompasses the fashion design process from inspiration through final fashion design collections. Focus is placed on drawing skills, design elements and using proper design tools. Students will need to utilize inspiration research on a board or sketchbook to develop design experimentation.
